11 – 15 year old’s pottery

Twice a week during term times Eskimo Blue runs a very popular class for 11 plus potters. Some of the children have moved up from the primary level pottery whilst others join at as new potters.

The children are encouraged to be more experimental and really push the boundries of their creativity utilizing all the materials available.

At the City Gallery Open 23 in 2010 one of the 11 plus students entered an exceptional piece of her pottery entitled “Taphead”. Not only was the piece accepted by the City Gallery selection panel, it went on to win two prizes in the junior section of the exhibition. It was a very proud moment for her, Taphead and for Eskimo Blue.

The City Gallery Open 24 in 2011 saw another success for an 11 plus Eskimo Blue pottery student. Sienna Griffen-Shaw took a long time fashioning Simon. It all paid of in the end though and ‘Simon, Kiss Me Quick’ was the first piece to be sold in the Open 24.
